Writer, critic, and screenwriter Pavel Lembersky will moderate a discussion exploring current themes in Russian drama, followed by Q&A.
Four acclaimed stage and film writers from Russia will be visiting Princeton University April 8th – 18th, and New York City April 18th-22, as part of a program to encourage cross-cultural communication through the arts. The participants include Aleksandr Arkhipov, a playwright from Yekaterinburg, Mikhail Durnenkov, a Moscow playwright, Aleksandr Rodionov, best known for his screenplays, including EVERYBODY DIES BUT ME, and Ksenya Stepanycheva, a playwright from Saratov.
At this special Russian-language event the four writers will participate in a discussion about their activities and current trends in Russian Theater, and answer questions from the audience. The event will be moderated by writer, critic, and screenwriter Pavel Lembersky.
The playwrights will present their work in English in a separate event at the Living Theatre on Tuesday, April 21st.
This event is free and open to all, though space is limited, and seating will be first-come-first-serve. Drinks will be available for purchase, and our friends at the Russian Samovar would be delighted to seat you for dinner downstairs.
The playwrights' trip is sponsored by The Open World Leadership Center at the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Arts and administered and organized by CEC ArtsLink, a New York City-based nonprofit organization.
Новая русская драма: беседа с драматургами.
Российские писатели-драматурги Александр Архипов (Екатеринбург), Михаил Дурненков (Москва), Ксения Степанычева (Саратов) и Александр Родионов (Москва), по сценарию которого был снят нашумевший фильм «Все умрут, а я останусь», посетят Принстонский университет в середине апреля, а затем проведут несколько дней в Нью-Йорке, где встретятся с русскоговорящей публикой в ходе литературного вечера в «Русском самоваре».
Мероприятие состоится 20-го апреля в 19.00. Вход свободный, но необходима предварительная регистрация, т.к. места ограничены (пожалуйста, пишите на адрес Кассандры Хартблей chartblay@cecartslink.org). Гости смогут купить напитки в баре ресторана и при желании остаться на ужин (за свой счет).
Кроме этого, произведения писателей будут представлены в рамках драматизированного чтения с группой американских актеров в «Живом театре» (The Living Theatre) 21-го апреля, в 20.00. Вход свободный.
Визит российских драматургов является частью программы по профессиональному обмену, поддерживаемой Центром лидерства «Открытый мир» при Библиотеке конгресса. Программа для лидеров в области культуры осуществляется в партнерстве и при финансовой поддержке Национального Фонда Искусств (National Endowment for the Arts).
